Apple and Chocolate Tart

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

2.In a food processor, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cold unsalted butter, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3.Add the egg yolk and pulse until the dough comes together.

4.Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

5.In a large bowl, toss together the thinly sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until well coated.

6.In a small saucepan, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, heavy cream, and unsalted butter. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.

7.Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the pan, trimming any excess.

8.Spread the melted chocolate filling evenly over the bottom of the tart crust.

9.Arrange the sliced apples in a concentric pattern on top of the chocolate filling.

10.Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.

11.Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.

12.In a small saucepan, heat the apricot jam over low heat until melted. Brush the melted jam over the top of the tart for a glossy finish.

13.Allow the tart to cool completely before serving. Slice and enjoy!
