Chocolate Orange Cake

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3.Add the vegetable oil, eggs, milk, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined and smooth.

4.Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans.

5.Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

6.Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.

7.To make the Chocolate Orange Buttercream, beat the softened butter in a large mixing bowl until creamy and smooth.

8.Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well after each addition.

9.Add the orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Beat until the buttercream is light and fluffy.

10.Once the cakes have completely cooled, spread a layer of the Chocolate Orange Buttercream on top of one cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining buttercream.

11.Decorate the cake with chocolate curls or shavings, orange slices, and fresh mint leaves.

12.Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

13.Slice and serve the Chocolate Orange Cake, and enjoy!
