Festive Christmas Patties with a Savory Filling

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2.Gradually add cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

3.In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent. Add the shredded chicken, grated carrots, frozen peas, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Stir in the chopped parsley and remove from heat. Let the filling cool.

4.Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

5.Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a cookie cutter or a glass, about 3 inches in diameter.

6.Place a tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

7.Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.

8.Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the patties are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
