Most Complicated Chocolate Cake

Preparation of the Cake Batter 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined. 4. Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing until smooth. 5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. 6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. 7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparation of the Chocolate Frosting 1. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the softened butter until smooth. 2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the butter, mixing on low speed until combined. 3. Increase the speed to medium and add the milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. 4. Set aside until ready to frost the cake.

Preparation of the Chocolate Ganache 1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. 2. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. 3. Stir the cream and chocolate together until smooth and glossy. 4. Set aside until ready to pour over the cake.

Assembly of the Cake 1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of chocolate frosting on top. 2. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the frosting process. 3. Place the final cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining chocolate frosting. 4. Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. 5. Decorate the cake as desired with chocolate shavings or sprinkles. 6. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the frosting and ganache to set. 7. Enjoy!
