Christmas Canapes

Preparation Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Preparation Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions.

Preparation Unroll the puff pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface.

Preparation Cut the puff pastry into small squares or circles using a cookie cutter.

Preparation Place the puff pastry squares or circles onto the prepared baking sheet.

Preparation Brush the tops of the pastry with the beaten egg wash.

Baking Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Baking Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Assembly: For the smoked salmon canapes

Assembly Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto each puff pastry square.

Assembly Top with a slice of smoked salmon and garnish with finely chopped red onion and fresh dill.

Assembly: For the prawn and avocado canapes

Assembly Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto each puff pastry square.

Assembly Top with a cooked prawn and a slice of avocado.

Assembly Drizzle with honey for added sweetness.

Assembly: For the goat cheese and prosciutto canapes

Assembly Spread a thin layer of goat cheese onto each puff pastry square.

Assembly Top with a slice of prosciutto and garnish with fresh dill.

Assembly: For the Brie and cranberry canapes

Assembly Spread a thin layer of Brie cheese onto each puff pastry square.

Assembly Top with a spoonful of cranberry sauce.

Serving Serve the canapes with cranberry sauce and sour cream and chives dip on the side.
