Lángos with Körözött Cheese Spread

1.In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2.In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.

3.Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4.Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

5.While the dough is rising, prepare the körözött cheese spread. In a medium bowl, combine sheep's cheese, sour cream, paprika, caraway seeds, and minced garlic. Mix until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

6.Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and let them rest for 10 minutes.

7.Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C).

8.Flatten each dough ball into a disc about 1/2 inch thick, making a small indentation in the center.

9.Carefully place the discs into the hot oil, frying 2-3 at a time, for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

10.To serve, spread a generous amount of körözött cheese on each lángos, top with a dollop of sour cream, and sprinkle with fresh dill.
