Classic Homemade Pizza

1Making the Pizza Dough In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar (1 teaspoon) in warm water (1 cup). Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt (½ teaspoon). Add the yeast mixture and olive oil (2 tablespoons). Mix until a dough forms.

3Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

4Preparing the Tomato Sauce (½ cup) In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce (½ cup), oregano, garlic powder (½ teaspoon), onion powder (½ teaspoon), salt (¼ teaspoon), and black pepper (¼ teaspoon). Set aside.

5Assembly Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat up.

6Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel.

7Spread the tomato sauce (½ cup) evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Add the shredded mozzarella cheese (1½ cups) and arrange the pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers (¼ cup), and black olives (¼ cup) on top.

8Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
