Homemade Twix Bars

1Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal later.

2To make the shortbread base, mix the flour, softened butter, and granulated sugar (¼ cup) in a bowl until a crumbly dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for about 15-20 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely.

3For the caramel filling, melt the unsalted butter (½ cup) in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar (½ cup), sweetened condensed milk (½ cup), and corn syrup (½ cup). Cook and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color, about 10-15 minutes. Pour the caramel over the cooled shortbread base and spread evenly. Let it cool and set for about 30 minutes at room temperature or in the fridge.

4Melt the milk chocolate chips (2 cups) in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly to cover. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or in the fridge until firm, about 1-2 hours.

5Once the chocolate has set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into bars or squares using a sharp knife. Enjoy your delicious homemade twix bars!
