Birthday Bao Buns

1In a bowl, combine the warm milk (½ cup), water (¼ cup), sugar (1 tbsp), and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

2Add the flour, salt (¼ tsp), vegetable oil (1 tbsp), and baking powder (½ tsp) to the yeast mixture. Mix well until a dough forms.

3Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.

4Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into a flat circle.

5Place a spoonful of your favorite filling in the center of each circle. Seal the buns by pleating the edges and twisting to close.

6Steam the buns in a steamer basket for 15-20 minutes until puffed and cooked through.

7Decorate the buns with colorful sprinkles and whipped cream for a festive touch. Serve and enjoy!
