Decadent Chocolate Cake

1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

2In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder (2 teaspoons), baking soda (1½ teaspoons), and espresso powder (1 teaspoon).

3Add milk (1 cup), vegetable oil (½ cup), eggs (2), and vanilla extract (2 teaspoons) to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

4Gradually stir in the boiling water (1 cup) until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.

5Fold in the chocolate chips gently.

6Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

7Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

9In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream (1 cup) until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the powdered sugar (¼ cup). Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

10Place the semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup) in a heatproof bowl and pour the hot cream over the chocolate. Let it sit for a minute, then whisk until smooth and glossy. Let the ganache cool for a few minutes before assembling the cake.

11Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of ganache on top. Place the second cake layer on top and cover the entire cake with the remaining ganache.

12Decorate with chocolate curls, sprinkles, or berries if desired. Enjoy the rich and indulgent chocolate cake!
