Homemade Classic Gravy

1In a saucepan, melt the butter (2 tablespoons) over medium heat.

2Add the flour to the melted butter (2 tablespoons) and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to make a roux.

3Slowly pour in the chicken or beef broth (1 cup) while whisking to avoid lumps in the gravy.

4Add the milk (½ cup) and continue whisking until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

5Season the gravy with black pepper (¼ teaspoon) and stir well to combine.

6Simmer the gravy for an additional 2-3 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
