Decadent Chocolate Surprise Cookies

1Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda (1 tsp), and baking powder (½ tsp).

3In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar (1 cup), and brown sugar (½ cup) until light and fluffy.

4Add the eggs (2 large) one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract (1 tsp).

5Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

6Fold in the chocolate chips (1 cup) and chopped nuts (½ cup), if using.

7Scoop a tablespoon of dough and flatten it in your palm. Place a chocolate truffle in the center and wrap the dough around it, forming a ball.

8Arrange the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.

9Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.

10Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
