Cheesy Tomato and Onion Delight

1Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2In a skillet, heat the olive oil (1 tablespoon) over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5 minutes.

3Add the sliced tomatoes (2 medium) to the skillet and sprinkle with garlic powder (1 teaspoon), dried oregano (1 teaspoon), salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes (2 medium) soften slightly.

4In a baking dish, layer the sautéed tomato and onion (1 medium) mixture evenly on the bottom.

5Place the cheese slices on top of the vegetable mixture, covering it completely.

6Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
