Cheesy Garlic Potato Bake

1Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2In a large skillet, melt the butter (1 tablespoon) over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic (4 cloves) and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

3In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes (4 large), sautéed onion (1 large) and garlic (4 cloves) mixture, dried thyme (1 teaspoon), salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the potatoes (4 large) are well coated.

4In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato mixture evenly on the bottom. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese (2 cups) over the potatoes (4 large).

5Pour half of the milk (1 cup) over the first layer. Repeat the process with the remaining potato mixture, cheese, and milk (1 cup), finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

6Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes (4 large) are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
