Steamed Christmas Brownies

1Prepare your steamer by filling it with water and bringing it to a boil. If you don't have a steamer, you can use a large pot with a lid and a heatproof dish or a cake pan that fits inside.

2In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder (½ teaspoon), and salt (¼ teaspoon). Mix well to ensure there are no lumps.

3In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs (2 large), and vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) until well combined.

4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans (½ cup), chocolate chips (½ cup), dried cranberries (¼ cup), and candied orange peel until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

6Grease your heatproof dish or cake pan with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.

7Place the dish in the steamer, cover with a lid, and steam for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8Once cooked, carefully remove the dish from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares.

9Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy your festive steamed brownies!
