Fluffy All-Purpose Flour Donuts

1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour (1 cup), granulated sugar (¼ cup), baking powder (½ teaspoon), baking soda (¼ teaspoon), salt (¼ teaspoon), and ground cinnamon (½ teaspoon). Mix well to ensure all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

2In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk (¼ cup), egg (1 large), melted butter (1 tablespoon), and vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) until well combined.

3Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

4Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for about 15 minutes to allow the gluten to relax.

5While the dough is resting, heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

6On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters (one larger and one smaller) to cut out donut shapes.

7Carefully place the donuts into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

8Once cooked, remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

9While still warm, dust the donuts with powdered sugar or your favorite glaze if desired.
