Decadent Chocolate Cake with a Rich Cocoa Flavor

1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

2In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar (1 cup) until light and fluffy.

3Add the milk (1 cup) to the butter-sugar (1 cup) mixture and mix well until combined.

4In another bowl, sift together the maida, cocoa powder (½ cup), baking soda (1 tsp), and baking powder (1 tsp) to ensure there are no lumps.

5Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

6Fold in the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips into the batter.

7Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

8Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
