Fire Salt Donuts from Steven Universe

1In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour (2 cups), granulated sugar (½ cup), baking powder (1 tablespoon), salt (½ teaspoon), cayenne pepper (½ teaspoon), paprika (½ teaspoon), and cinnamon (½ teaspoon). Mix well to ensure all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

2In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk (½ cup), eggs (2 large), melted butter, and vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) until well combined.

3Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

4Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.

5Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

6Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7While the donuts are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar (½ cup), water (1 tablespoon), and cayenne pepper (½ teaspoon) in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more water (1 tablespoon) or powdered sugar (½ cup) as needed.

8Once the donuts are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

9Once cooled, dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set for a few minutes before serving.
