Creamy Strawberry Delight Ice Cream

1In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and 1/2 cup of sugar. Toss to coat the strawberries and let them sit for about 30 minutes to macerate, allowing the juices to release.

2After 30 minutes, mash the strawberries with a fork or potato masher until you achieve a chunky puree. Set aside.

3In a separate large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream (1 cup), whole milk (1 cup), remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, vanilla extract (1 teaspoon), lemon juice (1 tablespoon), and salt (¼ teaspoon) until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

4Fold the mashed strawberries into the cream mixture until evenly distributed.

5Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

6Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

7Once frozen, scoop and serve the strawberry ice cream in bowls or cones, garnished with fresh strawberries (2 cups) if desired.
