Classic Homemade Bread with a Golden Crust

1In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar (2 tablespoons), and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

2Add the olive oil (2 tablespoons) and salt (2 teaspoons) to the yeast mixture, then gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands until a dough forms.

3Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

4Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

5Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.

6Cover the loaf with the damp cloth again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it has doubled in size again.

7Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

8Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

9Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
