Classic Comfort Meatloaf with Savory Glaze

1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (1½ pounds), breadcrumbs (1 cup), milk (½ cup), 1/2 cup ketchup (½ cup), chopped onion, minced garlic (2 cloves), egg (1 large), Worcestershire sauce (1 tablespoon), dried thyme (1 teaspoon), salt (1 teaspoon), and black pepper (½ teaspoon). Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

3Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf form.

4In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar (¼ cup) and 1/4 cup ketchup (½ cup) to create the glaze. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

5Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

6Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

7Slice the meatloaf and serve warm, optionally with mashed potatoes and green beans.
