Delicious Pantrucas: Chilean Dumplings with Flavorful Filling

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.

2.Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the egg and vegetable oil.

3.Gradually add water while mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

4.In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers, sautéing until they are soft and translucent.

5.Add the cooked and shredded chicken (or beef) to the skillet along with cumin, paprika, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

6.On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles using a round cutter or a glass, about 3-4 inches in diameter.

7.Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle. If using, sprinkle some grated cheese on top of the filling.

8.Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch.

9.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully drop the pantrucas into the boiling water in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.

10.Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface and are cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
