Sugar Cookie Ornaments

1.Beat butter, sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Wrap and chill until firm.

2.Heat oven to 375°F. Have 3-inch cookie cutters ready.

3.Roll out dough on a well-floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out desired shapes 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

4.Bake 10 minutes or until golden. Make holes in cookies for hanging. Remove to wire rack to cool.

5.Decorate as shown, or as you wish. Let stand about 2 hours until icing sets.
