Classic Green Bean Casserole with Crispy Onions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2.In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

3.In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

4.Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir until the beans are evenly coated.

5.Fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions and the shredded cheddar cheese into the green bean mixture, reserving the remaining onions for topping.

6.Transfer the green bean mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

7.Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly and heated through.

8.Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions on top.

9.Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy.

10.Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
