Decadent Doracake Delight

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3.Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4.In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Mix until just combined and smooth.

6.Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.

7.Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

8.While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

9.Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Allow to cool slightly before adding to the frosting mixture. Mix until well combined and creamy.

10.Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top of the first layer.

11.Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake with the remaining frosting, smoothing it out as desired.

12.For an extra touch, you can decorate the top with chocolate shavings or sprinkles. Slice and serve your Decadent Doracake Delight!
