Spicy Tomato Onion Sauce Pasta

1.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.

2.In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

3.Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

4.Stir in the diced tomatoes, red chili flakes, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the sauce thickens.

5.If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.

6.Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.

7.Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
