One-Pan Tomato Sausage Pasta Delight

1.In a large skillet or pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat.

2.Add the sliced Italian sausage to the pan and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

3.Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.

4.In the same pan, add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

5.Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

6.Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, and chicken broth.

7.Bring the mixture to a simmer, then add the penne pasta and stir to combine.

8.Cover the pan and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.

9.Return the cooked sausage to the pan and mix well to combine.

10.Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.

11.Remove from heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving.

12.Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
