Crispy Fried Milk Bites

1.In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, salt, and butter. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm and the sugar is dissolved.

2.In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little bit of cold milk to create a slurry. Gradually add this slurry to the warm milk mixture, stirring constantly until it thickens and becomes a custard-like consistency.

3.Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into a greased square baking dish and spread it evenly. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

4.Once set, cut the chilled milk mixture into bite-sized squares or rectangles.

5.Prepare a breading station: Place the flour in one bowl, beat the eggs in another bowl, and put the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

6.Take each milk bite, coat it in flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs.

7.In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).

8.Carefully add the breaded milk bites to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

9.Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried bites and drain on paper towels.

10.Dust with powdered sugar before serving and enjoy your crispy fried milk bites!
