Decorative Cake Pops

1.Preheat oven according to cake mix box instructions.

2.Prepare the cake batter as directed on the box using the specified ingredients (usually eggs, oil, and water).

3.Pour the batter into a greased or parchment-lined 9x13 inch baking pan and bake as directed until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

4.Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

5.Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl until fine crumbs form.

6.Add about 1/2 cup of frosting to the cake crumbs and mix thoroughly with a spoon or your hands until the mixture holds together when pressed. Add more frosting if needed, but avoid making it too wet.

7.Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

8.Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or in the freezer for 15-20 minutes until firm.

9.Melt the candy melts or colored melting chocolate in separate bowls according to package instructions, usually in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

10.Dip the tip of each cake pop stick about 1/2 inch into the melted candy, then insert it halfway into a cake ball. This helps secure the stick in place.

11.Dip each cake pop into the melted candy, covering it completely. Gently tap off excess coating.

12.Immediately decorate the cake pops with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other toppings before the coating sets.

13.Place the finished cake pops upright into a Styrofoam block or cake pop stand to dry completely.

14.Once dry, store the cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated depending on the candy coating used.

15.Serve as colorful, bite-sized treats perfect for parties or gifting.
