Gourmet Dog Stew with Vegetables and Rice

1Rinse the brown rice (1 cup) thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.

2In a large pot, heat the olive oil (1 tablespoon) over medium heat.

3Add the ground beef to the pot and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Break up any large chunks.

4Add the diced carrot (1 medium), sweet potato, (1 small) green beans, (½ cup) and peas to the pot. Stir to combine with the meat.

5Pour in the rinsed brown rice (1 cup) and 3 cups of water or low-sodium chicken broth (3 cups).

6Add the turmeric powder (¼ teaspoon) and dried parsley (¼ teaspoon) if using, and stir well.

7Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.

8Simmer gently for about 40-45 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

9Check the stew’s consistency; if it is too thick, add a little warm water to loosen it to a stew-like texture suitable for your dog.

10Remove from heat and allow the stew to cool completely before serving to your dog.

11Serve in appropriate portion sizes based on your dog’s size and dietary needs. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
