Classic Margherita Chicken Pizza

1.Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well for at least 30 minutes.

2.In a small bowl, combine the grilled chicken with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly and set aside.

3.Lightly flour your work surface and roll out each pizza dough into a thin 10-12 inch circle. If desired, sprinkle a pizza peel or baking sheet with cornmeal to prevent sticking.

4.Transfer the rolled dough onto the prepared pizza peel or baking sheet.

5.Spread about 2/3 cup of tomato sauce evenly over each pizza base, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.

6.Distribute the sliced mozzarella evenly over the sauce on each pizza.

7.Scatter the seasoned grilled chicken pieces evenly over the cheese layer.

8.Drizzle each pizza with a little of the remaining olive oil to enhance browning and flavor.

9.Slide the pizzas onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheets in the oven.

10.Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crisp, the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the chicken is heated through.

11.Remove the pizzas from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves over the top of each pizza.

12.Let the pizzas rest for 2-3 minutes before slicing to allow the cheese to set slightly.

13.Slice and serve hot, optionally with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil or a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper.
