Peanut Butter and Oat Dog Cookies

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and whole wheat flour. Mix well.

3.In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, applesauce, water, and egg until smooth. If using, add the ground cinnamon.

4.Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until a stiff dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time, until it comes together.

5.Lightly flour a work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.

6.Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter (or any shape you like) to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

7.Gather and re-roll any scraps to cut out more cookies until all the dough is used.

8.Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the cookies are golden and firm to the touch.

9.Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your dog.

10.Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze for longer storage.
