Bento Cookie Mix in a Jar

1.In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. This is your dry base.

2.In a clean, dry 1-quart mason jar, start layering the ingredients. Begin with the flour mixture, ensuring it's evenly distributed.

3.Next, add the granulated sugar, followed by the brown sugar. Gently tap the jar on the counter after adding each sugar layer to help them settle.

4.Add the chocolate chips and sprinkles (if using) on top of the sugars.

5.Seal the jar tightly with its lid. Decorate the jar with a ribbon or tag if desired, and include a printed recipe card with the baking instructions.

6.To bake: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

7.Empty the contents of the jar into a large mixing bowl. Add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

8.Mix with a spoon or electric mixer until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

9.Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.

10.Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.

11.Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
