Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

1.Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

2.In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

3.Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

4.Gradually add the self-rising flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing just until the flour streaks disappear; do not overmix.

5.Fold in the chocolate chips by hand using a spatula to ensure even distribution throughout the dough.

6.Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5 cm apart to allow for spreading.

7.Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.

8.Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
