Cristal Apple

Preparation Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Dough In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt for the dough. Add the cold cubed butter and mix using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Dough Add the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together and forms a ball. Divide the dough in half.

Dough Roll out one half of the dough on a lightly floured surface into a circle slightly larger than your pie dish. Transfer the dough to the pie dish and gently press it into the bottom and sides. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.

Filling In a large mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice for the filling. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

Filling Pour the apple filling into the prepared pie crust.

Topping In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the topping. Add the melted butter and mix until crumbly.

Topping Sprinkle the topping over the apple filling, covering it completely.

Baking Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Cooling Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
