Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preparation Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mixing the Dough In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. In another bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins.

Forming the Cookies Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. If desired, sprinkle the cookies lightly with sea salt before baking.

Baking Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
