Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preparation Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mixing the Dough In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda until well combined.

Creaming the Butter and Sugar In a separate large bowl, cream together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time until well blended.

Incorporating Chocolate Chips and Walnuts Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just blended. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Forming the Cookies Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave enough space between the dough balls to allow for spreading during baking.

Baking and Cooling Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
