You can find this new option in the settings. Just toggle it on or off based on your preference.
This has been a top feature request for a while, and I'm happy to finally ship it.
Let me know what you think!

Sort Shopping List Items by Recipe 🛒
I'm excited to announce a new feature that many of you have requested: you can now sort your shopping list items by recipe!
This should make your grocery trips even more organized. When you have multiple recipes in your shopping list, you'll see the ingredients grouped under their respective recipe titles.
Happy cooking, Jan
Easier Servings Adjustment 🍽️
I've made it easier to adjust the number of servings for recipes!
Previously, you had to click the plus and minus buttons repeatedly, which could be a bit tedious for larger adjustments. Now, I've added an input field that lets you type in the exact number of servings you need. The ingredient amounts will update instantly as you type.
This should make scaling your favorite recipes up or down much quicker.
Happy cooking!
Recipe Scanner Now Supports PDF and TXT Files 📄
I'm excited to announce that I've upgraded the recipe scanner! You can now import recipes from PDF and TXT files, in addition to scanning them from images. This opens up a lot more possibilities for getting your favorite recipes into Mr. Cook.
A quick note: please make sure to only scan one recipe at a time.
You can try out the new feature by using the Scan Recipe button.
57 New Recipe Importers Added! 🚀
I've been busy expanding the recipe import feature and I'm excited to announce that I've added support for 57 new websites!
This brings the total number of supported sites to over 470 🤯 You can now import recipes from even more of your favorite food blogs and recipe websites directly into Mr. Cook.
Just paste a link when you add a new recipe and Mr. Cook will automatically import all the details.
You can see the full list of supported websites to check if your favorite is included. If not, please let me know!
Happy cooking!
Enhanced File Upload and Recipe Scanner ✨
I've just rolled out a pretty neat update to how you can get your recipes into Mr. Cook! I've focused on making the file upload and recipe scanning process much smoother and more versatile.
Now, you can:
- Take multiple photos directly in the app when scanning recipes. No more one-photo-at-a-time hassle!
- Paste images directly from your clipboard. Copied a recipe image from a website? Just paste it in!
- Drag-and-drop images for a super quick upload experience.
I think these changes will make adding your recipes, whether from a physical cookbook or a digital source, a lot easier and faster. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
You can access these new features when you import a recipe or add a new recipe manually.
Easily Import Your Paprika 3 Recipes! 🌶️
Hey everyone,
I'm excited to announce a new feature that many of you have asked for: a bulk importer for Paprika 3 Recipe Manager!
If you've been managing your recipes in Paprika 3 and want to bring them over to Mr. Cook, now you can do it seamlessly. I've built a dedicated importer to make the transition as smooth as possible.
You can find the new importer in the settings under Bulk Import -> Paprika. Just follow the instructions there, and your recipes will be ready in Mr. Cook in no time.
I hope this makes it easier for you to manage all your recipes in one place. This is still in beta, if you have any feedback or run into any issues, please let me know!
Happy cooking! Jan

To start importing, make sure you have an active Mr. Cook Pro membership.
Many other websites are still supported in the Free and Plus plans.

AI Recipe Importer (Beta) 🤖
I've just rolled out a new AI-powered recipe importer! This should significantly improve compatibility with a wider range of recipe websites. It's automatically enabled when you import from supported websites, so you don't need to do anything special to use it.
Please keep in mind that this is a best-effort feature and might not work perfectly with every single website out there. I'm releasing it as a beta for now, so it's completely free for everyone to try.
Depending on how it performs and the resources required, I might consider making this a paid feature once it's more stable and reliable.
Give it a try by importing a recipe and let me know what you think! Your feedback is super valuable, especially during this beta phase. You can share your thoughts via the Feedback section.
Instagram Recipe Importer ✨
I've added a new way to get recipes into Mr. Cook! You can now import recipes directly from Instagram posts.
Simply paste the link to the Instagram post containing a recipe, and the AI will do its best to extract the ingredients and instructions for you.
Pro Tip: On iOS and Android, you can also use the native share feature directly from the Instagram app to send the post to Mr. Cook for even faster importing!
This feature is still experimental, so it might not always extract recipes perfectly. Please let me know if you run into any issues or have suggestions!
Happy cooking! 🍳
Mr. Cook 2.0 - Rebuilt to be faster and better 🎉
2 years ago, I started working on Mr. Cook. I've rebuilt most of it behind the scenes and added some new features. You might notice many small changes, but the core of the app is the same.
📸 Multiple Recipe Images
Finally, you can add multiple images to a recipe. There are more improvements coming to the image handling soon.

I've updated the plan limits to be more fair. You can now have use more AI features on the Plus plan. I will experiment with the limits in the future to find a fair balance.
💚 Thank you
Thank you for your support over the past 2 years. I've learned so much and I'm excited to continue working on Mr. Cook. Every subscription helps me to continue working on the app. If you like the app, please consider subscribing.
💬 Feedback
I'm always looking for feedback. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Meal planner nutrients makeover 🥗
I've been working on the meal planner to better show you the nutrients of your meals. Also you can now start analyzing the nutrients of your meals right from the meal planner.
This is another step towards making the meal planner the central place for your nutrition.
Do you have any feedback on the meal planner? Please post your feedback.
Sum of shopping list items 🛒
Based on your feedback, I've added a new feature that automatically totals items as you add them to your shopping list.
This makes it easier to see the total amount of items you need to buy.
The summation is based on the ingredient name and the unit. For example, if you add "100g potatoes" and "200g potatoes", it will sum up to "300g potatoes".
I hope you like it. Happy shopping! 🛒
Some recipes not showing in list 😶🌫️
There was a bug that some recipes were not shown in the recipe list for some users. This should be fixed now. Sorry for any inconveniences.
This changed some other things in the background. If you experience some issues, please post your feedback.
Filter recipes without any rating ⭐
Based on your feedback, I have added a new filter option to find recipes that have not yet been rated.
Great for finding recipes you might want to try. Happy cooking!
Fix Image Generation 📸
I fixed the automatic image generation for AI recipes. Sorry for the inconvenience. This release also includes a number of other minor fixes.
Export Cookbooks as PDF 📚
I've added a new feature that lets you export your cookbooks as beautiful PDF files! 🎉
This feature is available for Plus and Pro users and is currently in beta. To use it:
- Go to any cookbook
- Click on the three-dots menu button
- Choose "Export as PDF"
The exported PDF includes a beautiful cover page with your cookbook's title and all recipes with their ingredients, instructions, and cooking times neatly organized.
To use this feature, make sure you have the latest version of the app:
- iOS: Download from the App Store
- Android: Get it on Google Play
I'm actively working on improvements for this feature, and I'd love to hear your feedback! 💪
More accurate recipe scanner 📸
I have improved the recipe scanner to be more accurate at transcribing recipes from images.
This makes it easier to add recipes from cookbooks and other sources.
Less information is lost during the scan and the recipe is more faithful to the original.
Improved AI Recipe Generation ✨
I've improved the AI recipe generation process to ensure that the recipes are more diverse and creative.
Additionally the image generation process has been improved to ensure that the images are more accurate and relevant to the recipe.
This is a big step towards making the AI even more useful and helpful.
Please let me know when you run into any issues or have any feedback.
Recipe Cookbook Indicator ✔︎
Based on your feedback, I have added a visual indicator of which cookbooks a recipe has been added to. This makes it easier to organise your recipes.
In addition, you can now filter for unorganised recipes in your recipe list. This way you can see which recipes have not yet been added to any cookbooks.
Happy organising! 📕
Shopping List Redesign 🛒
After many thoughts and ideas, I have finally redesigned the shopping list. It's now a simplified version of the list, but with more features.
When you add ingredients from a recipe to the shopping list, the recipe name is now displayed and you can open the recipe from the three dot menu.
You can still organise your ingredients by category, but I have added the
Beta
badge to indicate that this is a work in progress and will be improved in the future. To be fair, I also liked the old grid design with the icons, but the new one is easier to understand, faster and has more subtle animations to make shopping more fun.
I hope you like the change. Happy shopping! 🛒
Important: New meal planner sharing experience ⚠️
I have simplified the way you share your meal planner. Shopping lists and meal planners are now attached to the same list and shared with the same people.
Meal planners are no longer attached to a cookbook. This makes them easier to share and more intuitive.
Important: All existing planned recipes and notes have been migrated to the new structure. Please go to the Meal Planner to make sure, and make sure to invite others if they are not already part of the shopping list.
4 New Languages 🌍
I'm pleased to announce that 4 new languages have been added to Mr. Cook 🎉 All languages have full support for all features.
These languages have been added:
- Italian 🇮🇹
- Norwegian 🇳🇴
- Swedish 🇸🇪

Happy cooking! 🍳
Multiple photos for scanner 📸
Based on user feedback, I added the ability to select multiple photos to scan a recipe.
This is very handy if you want to digitize recipes from magazines or handwritten notebooks.
Please note that for now, only selecting multiple images from the gallery is supported.
4 more cuisines 😋
As requested by some users, I have added 4 more cuisines to the list. You now have a wider range of options to choose from. The new cuisines include
- Bengali
- Egyptian
- Malaysian
- Puerto Rican
Add recipe to cookbook design update 📕
Similar to the recently updated cookbook list, I've updated the design of the
Add Recipe to Cookbook
dialog. The new design has the same style as the cookbook list, making it easier to find the cookbook you want to add a recipe to.A few bugs have also been fixed. The page now correctly displays the number of recipes in each cookbook, and the search functionality has been improved.
Recipe variation can keep the original image 📸
When you create a recipe variation, the AI will now keep the original image if it makes sense.
This is useful if you are only making small changes or translating the recipe. The image will be reused. 🔄
Cookbook List Design Update 📕
I have redesigned the cookbook list to make it easier to find recipes. The new design features a 3D cookbook with a cover image, title and number of recipes.
In addition, each cookbook is assigned a random book colour to make it easier to distinguish between them. In the future, I plan to be able to set the colour manually.
Meal Planner Categories 🍽️
Based on your feedback, I've added the ability to categorize your meal planner items. You can now create categories like "Breakfast", "Lunch", "Dinner", "Snacks", "Meal prep" to help you organize your meal plans.
I also fixed some bugs in the Meal Planner, so it should be more stable now. Enjoy! 🎉
22 New Recipe Importers 😋
I have recently added 22 new recipe importers to the app. In total, more than 383 websites are now officially supported. In addition, thousands of other websites also work.

AI Image Generation 📸
An AI image generation bug that affected some users in the last 2 days has been fixed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

- Rating
- Cooking time
Additionally, some design updates have been made to improve the overall experience.
In the future we plan to add more filters and options. Stay tuned!
Shopping List Update 🛒
The recently added Shopping List is now even better. We have improved the design and added new features to make it easier for you to manage your shopping list.
When you add ingredients from a Recipe or the Meal Planner to the shopping list, you'll now see a dialog with the ingredients you want to add. You can then tap the ingredients you already have at home to not add them to the shopping list. This way you can keep track of what you need to buy and what you already have.
In addition, you can now delete all items from a section of the shopping list at once. This is especially useful if you want to remove all items from a particular category, such as fruits and vegetables.
Last but not least, we have improved the item icons in the shopping list. They should now better reflect your input and make it easier to identify the items on your list. If you have any feedback or suggestions for further improvements, please let us know. We always appreciate hearing from you.

Social Updates 🫶
I want to make cooking more fun and social. So some new features have been added.
Everyone now has a unique username. You can also search for users and see how many followers a user has. You can now follow your friends and family.
In the future I want to add a feed for your followers where you can post recipes. Today it's already possible to post comments under recipes.

For those who prefer to view their recipes in a table instead of the grid, you can now switch between two views. Simply select the table in any recipe list where filters are available.
It's also possible to customize the default view in your display settings.
Recipe Scanner 📸
Scan recipes from handwritten notes, books and magazines to store them digitally. Just snap a picture and let Mr. Cook do the magic.
This feature requires a Pro membership.
General AI preferences 🤖
By user request, general AI preferences have been added. These are added to each recipe generation and can be used to enter common likes and dislikes. You can enter things like gluten free, no nuts, lactose intolerant, or other preferences.
Note: Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that preferences will always be followed.
🚀 Advanced AI Model
We've updated our AI model for our Pro users. The model is able to understand more complex requirements, make fewer mistakes and produce better recipes.
Mr. Cook Pro exclusive
Since this model costs a lot more money per recipe generated, it is limited to our Pro users. You can upgrade your account here.
Profile Pictures 🤳
You can now upload your own pictures for your profile. These will be displayed in shared cookbooks, your public recipes and on your public profile page.
To update your picture, go to Profile and click the edit icon next to your picture.
This makes Mr. Cook more personal. I will be adding more ways to personalize your profiles in the future. Stay tuned!
Introducing Mr. Cook PLUS & Pro ✨
It's been exactly one year since I released the first version of Mr. Cook to a few select users. It's been a crazy year. More than 7,250 users have an active Mr. Cook account and many use Mr. Cook as their primary source for all their recipes.
For this year, Mr. Cook was completely free to use. I paid all the expenses because I wanted to make a nice application that people would like to use. While I really like it, I need to change that and introduce paid plans to help me cover my increasing costs.
I would like to thank all of you for your support. That's why I've split the free plan into two versions: For all users who joined before February 16, 2024, the free plan has the recipe and shared cookbook limits of the PLUS plan. This is my way of saying thank you and giving something back.
✨ Introducing Mr. Cook PLUS & Pro
I've added two versions of memberships to Mr. Cook: PLUS & Pro. Let me explain why:
Many users want to use Mr. Cook primarily as a recipe management application. For them, the PLUS membership should be the best fit. It includes a higher limit on your own recipes and the number of shared cookbooks. It also increases the number of recipe generations.
For heavy users of recipe generation, you can get the Pro membership to have a high number of recipes you can generate each month.
Both plans are available on all platforms and are shared across all your devices. The plans are available on a monthly, annual, and one-time purchase basis.
Not all benefits are set in stone and may change in the future as I want to experiment and provide the best value for all users.
Best, Jan 👋
Nutrients (Beta) 🥗
There is a new experimental feature. With this feature enabled, you can go into your recipes and let the Mr. Cook AI guess the nutritional values of all the ingredients in the recipe.
Please keep in mind that this feature is in a very early stage of development and will get many more improvements in the coming weeks and months.
Performance Improvements 🚀
Mr. Cook should now feel even faster than before. This includes the speed of the first start & the speed of every action within the app. There are more optimizations to come, but I always try to make Mr. Cook feel as snappy as possible.
Discover recipes filtered by UI language 🇬🇧
Another small but useful addition. The recipes in the Discover page are now filtered by the currently selected UI language. No more scrolling through recipes in another language.
Introducing Cookbooks 📖
The concept of teams has been removed and is now replaced by cookbooks. Cookbooks allow you to better organize your recipes. You can add a recipe to multiple cookbooks at the same time.
You can invite other users to join your cookbook. You can then work together to create your perfect cookbooks. You can also set cover recipes for your cookbook to make it easier to find.
You can also set permissions so that some users can only see all recipes. By default, any new user can add and remove recipes. In the future, I'll add a setting to change this on a per-cookbook basis.
If you delete a cookbook or remove a recipe from it, the recipe is now kept and is still available to the author of the recipe.
You can also add recipes to cookbooks that you are not the author of to start your dream collections from other users.
📅 Meal planner: Notes & Random Recipes
Please go to the Meal Planner and select your default cookbook. Any recipes you add to the Meal Planner will be assigned to this cookbook by default. You can also use your personal cookbook and switch between all your planners.
Notes are a great way to store information you want to remember as you plan your week. They are shared and can be edited by members of your cookbook.
If you don't know what to cook, you can plan a random recipe. It will select a random recipe from your personal recipes and the recipes shared with the cookbook.
⚡ Mass Actions for Cookbooks
Another big improvement is that you can now add multiple recipes to a cookbook at once. Just go to a cookbook and click the Add Recipe button. Of course, you can also remove multiple recipes from a cookbook at once. Tap and hold a recipe and click Select. This opens the bulk selection view. This is a great time-saver when organizing your recipes.
In the future, I'll also add mass actions to the recipe list, such as deleting a recipe, managing tags, and more. But this is not done yet.
🏷️ Personal Tags
With the above changes comes a simplification. Tags are now only personal. This means you can add them to the recipes you are the author of.
You can still see tags attached to other recipes, but you cannot edit them. This eliminates the confusion between personal and team tags.
👨💻 All your data is still there
All teams have been automatically upgraded to Cookbooks. All members are still there and have the same permissions. Except Admins have been demoted to Creators, as there is no Admin role anymore, and all your recipes are still in the teams.
All team tags have been merged with your private tags and all associated recipes are still there.
You don't have to do anything. You can start using all the new features right away.

Headings can be used instead of the automatically generated step number headings.
Headings can also be inserted with a line ending in a colon. The step text then starts on the line after the heading.

We hope you notice these improvements and continue to enjoy the app. Have fun surfing faster! 🏄♀️
New: Recipe generation with artificial intelligence

You can also enter personal preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc. 🥦
