Authentic Indian Chicken Curry

1.In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

2.Add the chopped onions and cook until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally for about 8-10 minutes.

3.Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

4.Add the chicken thighs to the pot and cook until they are no longer pink on the outside, about 5-7 minutes.

5.Pour in the tomato puree, yogurt, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

6.Add water to the pot to cover the chicken pieces. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer covered for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

7.Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the curry.

8.Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Serve the Indian chicken curry hot with rice or naan bread.
