Making the Sugar Solution In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved.

Cooking to the Hard-Crack Stage Continue to cook the sugar solution, without stirring, until it reaches the hard-crack stage. You can test this by dropping a small amount of the solution into a cup of cold water. If it forms hard, brittle threads, it's ready.

Adding Flavor and Color Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Stir in the flavor extract and a few drops of green food coloring until well combined.

Pouring and Cooling Carefully pour the hot sugar solution onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let it cool completely, undisturbed, for about 1 hour.

Breaking into Pieces Once the candy has hardened, carefully break it into small, irregular pieces. You can use a hammer or the back of a spoon to achieve a more natural, rocky look.

Coating with Sugar In a shallow bowl, spread out the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Roll each piece of candy in the sugar until fully coated, giving them the appearance of uranium rocks.
