Classic Butter Cake

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan or two 8-inch round cake pans.

2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

3.Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4.In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

6.Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and smooth the top with a spatula.

7.Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes for the loaf pan or 25-30 minutes for the round pans, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8.Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
