Classic Beef Chili Con Carne

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

2.Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

3.Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

4.Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

5.Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.

6.Add the chopped green and red bell peppers, and jalapeño pepper if using. Stir to combine.

7.Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a richer flavor, simmer for up to 1 hour.

8.Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
