Warm Spiced Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Glaze

1.In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment) to beat the softened cream cheese and softened butter together on medium speed until completely smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Ensure there are no lumps.

2.Add the packed light brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to the creamed mixture. Beat on medium speed until fully incorporated and the mixture is lightened in color, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary.

3.Reduce the mixer speed to low. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix at this stage.

4.Add 1 tablespoon of milk or heavy cream at a time, beating on low speed until the glaze reaches a smooth, pourable, yet thick consistency suitable for drizzling or spreading. You may need slightly more or less liquid depending on the temperature and humidity.

5.Taste the glaze and add a tiny pinch of salt if desired to balance the sweetness (optional).

6.Use immediately over a cooled spice cake, carrot cake, or pumpkin bread. If the glaze becomes too thick while sitting, whisk in a few drops of milk to loosen it.
