Classic Lasagne

Preparing the Meat Sauce In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and ground pork over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is softened.

2.Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Preparing the Cheese Filling In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Preparation Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Assembling the Lasagne Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 3 lasagne noodles on top of the sauce.

6.Spread half of the cheese filling over the noodles. Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.

7.Repeat the layers, starting with the meat sauce, lasagne noodles, and cheese filling. Top with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.

Baking the Lasagne Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Serve and Enjoy! Let the lasagne cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
