Ultimate Birthday Green Beans

1.Wash the green beans and trim the ends. Cut larger beans in half if desired.

2.In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.

3.Add the sliced almonds to the skillet and toast until lightly browned. Remove and set aside with the bacon.

4.In the same skillet, add the butter and sauté the red bell pepper, garlic, and red onion until softened, about 3 minutes.

5.Stir in the green beans and red pepper flakes. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

6.Pour in the chicken broth and white wine. Cover the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the beans are tender-crisp.

7.Remove the lid and stir in the grated parmesan cheese and lemon juice.

8.Add the crispy bacon and toasted almonds back to the skillet. Toss to combine all the flavors.

9.Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
