Festive Cranberry Apple Chutney

1.In a saucepan, combine the cranberries, apples, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.

2.Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens to a chutney-like consistency.

3.If using, stir in the chopped walnuts and raisins during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

4.Remove from heat and let the chutney cool before transferring it to a jar or container for storage.

5.Refrigerate the chutney for at least a few hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

6.Serve the festive cranberry apple chutney as a delicious accompaniment to roast turkey, ham, cheese platters, or as a spread on sandwiches or crackers.
