Savory Spaghetti Bolognese with Rich Tomato Sauce

1.Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2.In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened and the onion is translucent.

3.Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

4.Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, and red wine (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.

5.Add the milk to the sauce and stir well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

6.Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese.
