Festive Christmas Breuder Delight

1.In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.

3.In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, and honey. Add the yeast mixture once it’s frothy.

4.Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

5.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

6.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

7.Once risen, punch down the dough and knead in the dried fruits, nuts, and orange zest until evenly distributed.

8.Shape the dough into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls and place them in a greased baking pan.

9.Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes until puffy.

10.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

11.Brush the top of the dough with beaten egg for a golden finish.

12.Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

13.Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
