Savory Cheese-Stuffed Breadsticks

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine.

2.Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.

3.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

4.Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

5.While the dough is rising, prepare the cheese filling by mixing the mozzarella, Parmesan, oregano, basil, and garlic powder in a bowl. Set aside.

6.Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

7.Cut the rolled-out dough into strips, approximately 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.

8.Place a generous amount of the cheese filling on one end of each strip, then fold the dough over to encase the cheese and pinch the edges to seal.

9.Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

10.Place the stuffed breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.

11.In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the breadsticks for a golden finish.

12.Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the breadsticks are golden brown and crispy.

13.Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
