Cranberry Christmas Siaopao

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

2.Gradually add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.

3.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4.While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a bowl, mix the ground pork, cranberry sauce, soy sauce, minced ginger, minced garlic, five-spice powder, black pepper, green onions, and sesame oil until well combined.

5.Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a circle about 4 inches in diameter.

6.Place about 1 tablespoon of the pork filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the filling inside, forming a bun.

7.Place the filled buns on parchment paper squares to prevent sticking, and let them rest for another 30 minutes.

8.Prepare a steamer by boiling water in a pot. Arrange the buns in the steamer basket, ensuring they have space to expand. Cover and steam over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are fluffy and cooked through.

9.Remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
